The last few weeks have been busy and I’ve not been able to post original articles to Substack. Hope you’ve liked the fiction and the novel. However, I’m currently working on
“Bella Lingua” (The Stories of John Cheever) - John Cheever hated Italy
Job Chapter 26 - The Retcon and what is says about verses where G-d fights sea monsters.
“The Essences” by Davin Ireland (BADASS HORROR) - On the importance of endings
An article about retiring from Academic Fraud - Originally this was an article about Breonna James of Winthrop University screwing me over, but on the same day she refused to pay me me $200 (for a paper that I stayed up all night writing as Breonna James sent abusive emails), I got paid the same amount for playing a Victorian Ghost in a haunted house in Bridgeport. I took that as a sign. I spent the last year begging for jobs (and money) and working for psychos like Breonna James (whom I would have told to fuck off long ago in my more successful times) and I’m sick of it.
Yet, these articles are all taking longer than I thought. So to make sure that I actually put out something this week (I do have paying subscribers after all), here are my articles on starting Dybbuk Press.
First there’s my article about founding Dybbuk Press. It’s a doozy. You can go to my livejournal and find the first drafts where I was MUCH more bitter about the experience.
If you’d like to start that Dybbuk Press or Tim Lieder entry on Wikipedia, this article would be a great reference.
Editing Teddy Bear Cannibal Massacre (Dybbuk Press)
I was an aspiring writer. I wanted to be a successful writer, a published writer, a paid writer, a working writer, anything but aspiring. I had written a novel, a screenplay, dozens of stories and countless blog posts. I was sending out stories through the postal service with self-addressed stamped envelopes (SASE). I hadn't sold a damn thing. Borderlan…
Next we have the introduction to BADASS HORROR. I’m still writing articles about BADASS HORROR. Eventually I will write articles about every book I’ve published with Dybbuk Press (including the pulled Merely Mary Ann, which never sold).
Introduction to BADASS HORROR
When I talk about editing and publishing, I can tell the story about editing Teddy Bear Cannibal Massacre endlessly. It was an experience fraught with wishful thinking, immaturity and miscommunication. By contrast, BADASS HORROR was the second Dybbuk Press book. I had bought ten ISBN's and I needed to use them, else I had paid all that money for one boo…
Finally, I have seven stories in BADASS HORROR and since I usually put three articles in these kinds of link articles, please revisit the middle story where I talk about my qualms with misogyny in horror. It’s not just one story but this story definitely supports it. Of course, I paid for this story. I published this story. I still want to make money off of this story by getting people to buy the book and read the story. Ronald Malfi is a great writer and you should definitely read him.
"All the Pretty Girls" by Ronald Malfi (BADASS HORROR)
All stories discussed in these columns were published in BADASS HORROR, a Dybbuk Press anthology.
Ok. That’s it. I need to finish work for a client. Like I said it’s been a tough year so if you’d like to donate to my Gofundme, I’d be very grateful.
Teddy Bear Cannibal Massacre is for Sale on Amazon and other bookstores.
